Shanghai – After two months of online participation and voting, GM announced the nine finalists for the Expo Reporter Campaign today. The nine were selected from 91 entrants from Shanghai universities.
In early February, three winners will be selected from the nine through a student essay-writing challenge and interviews with GM’s Expo 2010 team. The three winners will have the opportunity to report on GM’s activities at World Expo 2010 Shanghai as part of GM’s Communications team. Their work will be showcased on GM’s interactive Expo 2010 website, www.gmexpo2010.com. Upon completion of Expo 2010, one of the three winners will be selected for an onsite internship in the GM China Communications Department.
GM launched the Expo Reporter Campaign in November 2009 on the company’s Expo 2010 website and through a Shanghai university campus tour. The objective of the contest is to encourage students to actively participate and experience Expo 2010.
Representatives from GM visited five Shanghai universities: East China Normal University, Shanghai International Studies University, Tongji University, Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University. Jean Liu-Barnocki, GM China World Expo 2010 Shanghai Project Manager, joined the campus tour and shared with university students GM’s proud history of participation in Global Expositions and the company’s vision for the future of urban transportation.
In order to enter the contest, students submitted videos explaining why they were the best candidate to report on GM’s Expo 2010 activities. Students could base their submission on Auto Life, Auto Tech or Expo News, while showcasing their reporting talent and creativity. To date, more than 100,000 votes for the 91 entries have been received from website visitors.
