Shanghai – Shanghai GM has become the first passenger car manufacturer in China to sell 1 million vehicles in a single year. The keys to the 1 millionth vehicle, a Buick LaCROSSE sedan, were presented today to Mr. Zhang Yun from Shanghai by Shanghai GM President Ding Lei.

Berlin/Rüsselsheim. The Opel Meriva has won the Golden Steering Wheel Award 2010, continuing in the footsteps of Opel vehicles in internationally renowned automotive competitions. Last year, the Astra drove the Golden Steering Wheel home to Rüsselsheim, just after the Insignia was named Car of the Year 2009. This is the 14th time Opel has won the Golden Steering Wheel in the prize’s 35-year history.

The Chevrolet team made a very big step forward in the race towards the titles, after collecting one win and many heavy points in the penultimate round of the WTCC, in rain-soaked Okayama, Japan. Chevrolet's World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) champion Rob Huff has just completed his first test drive of the Cruze 1.6T. "I am impressed by its excellent performance," he later says with pride. Next year, the Cruze 1.6T will be the car of choice for the Chevrolet WTCC team, in which Ewan Muller, Alain Menu and Rob Huff will compete.

Middle East - The Chevrolet Child Seat Campaign kicked off this week when more than 70 maternity nurses across the UAE received training about the importance of using child seats when travelling with infants and children in a vehicle. GMMEO has partnered with Safe Kids Worldwide to send child injury prevention experts from the US to train maternity nurses.

Shanghai GM, GM’s flagship passenger car joint venture in China, began exports of the Chevrolet New Sail today to the Chilean market. Plans are in place to sell the small family sedan to additional markets in South America, North Africa and the Middle East. Authorized Chevrolet dealers will sell and service the New Sail outside China.
