GM today launched its "Low Carbon Spring Festival" program to encourage people to lower their carbon footprint in their celebration of China's upcoming Spring Festival. A carbon footprint is the total set of greenhouse gas emissions caused by an individual, organization, event or product.

Working with hudong.com, the program encourages netizens (internet users) to suggest tips for living a lower carbon footprint lifestyle. Tips will be compiled into a booklet and distributed to the public for free to promote a greener future.

"GM wishes everyone a happy and healthy Spring Festival," said GM China Vice President David Chen. "The 'Low Carbon Spring Festival' program combines Chinese traditions with new environmental protection trends. It represents a refreshing start to the Year of the Tiger."
