GM Announces Winners of Expo 2010 Reporter Campaign
Shanghai – Following three months of intense competition, GM China today announced the winners of the Expo Reporter Campaign for World Expo 2010 Shanghai. They are Zhou Minjie, Lu Chenmin and Wang Yuchen.
The three winners, who are all students in the School of Automobile Studies at Shanghai’s Tongji University, were selected from nearly 100 finalists for their creativity, expertise and ability to express themselves.
They will serve as student reporters at Expo 2010, witnessing GM’s leadership in automobile technologies firsthand and covering the automaker’s activities as part of GM China’s communications team. They will have the opportunity to interview senior GM executives involved in Expo 2010 and the SAIC-GM Pavilion. They will also update videos, news releases, and blogs on GM’s Expo 2010 websites.
The Expo Reporter Campaign, which began in November 2009, is an important part of GM’s “Drive to 2030” activities. Its goal is to encourage students to actively participate in and experience Expo 2010. The campaign involved online voting, an essay-writing challenge and interviews with GM’s Expo 2010 team.
“Today’s university students are full of passion and imagination. As masters of the city of the future, they will be the driving force for making GM’s vision for urban transportation come true,” said Jean Liu-Barnocki, GM China World Expo 2010 Shanghai Project Manager.
“Our three competition winners will play an active role in reporting on GM’s activities at Expo 2010 and communicating our messages to their peers,” she added. “We look forward to their sharing with individuals from around the world their passion, imagination, and unique perspectives on urban transportation of the future.”
Zhou Minjie, who is majoring in vehicle engineering, was chosen in the "Expo News" category. She is not only familiar with GM’s participation in previous Global Expositions, but also has a deep understanding of the SAIC-GM Pavilion’s theme of “Drive to 2030.” Lu Chenmin, who is majoring in automobile studies, was selected in the category of "Auto Life." She demonstrated a unique perspective on future personal mobility, which she expressed creatively in a work of art. Wang Yuchen, who is majoring in vehicle engineering, was selected in the "Car Technology" category. He has solid industry expertise, outstanding English skills and a pleasing personality. As a future engineer, he has already demonstrated a profound understanding of urban transportation.
