"Gaining the support of 1 million car owners within just 65 months is a sign of the trust of Chinese customers in both Chevrolet and SGM," says Ding Lei, SGM's president. "The rapid growth of Chevrolet in China confirms that SGM's multi-brand and product strategies are forward looking. Chevrolet will continue to leverage its advantages in design, advanced technology and environmentally friendly technology across the globe and provide more outstanding products in more market segments. Our goal is to make Chevrolet the first choice among the younger generation who are striving for success."

China has become one of the most important Chevrolet markets worldwide. SGM sold 218,951 Chevrolets in China in the first half of 2010, accounting for more than 10 percent of global sales and helping make China the third-largest Chevrolet market after the U.S. and Brazil.
