On just its 13th day of being open to the public, the SAIC-GM Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai officially welcomed its 100,000th visitor at 11:10 this morning.

After touring the pavilion,Jia Jiangming, the special visitor from Yiwu,China was presented two pavilion souvenirs, one concept vehicle YeZEN-V model and one EN-VYeZ model a model of the futuristic EN-V concept vehicle–a major attraction of the pavilion – to thank him for his support and serve as a reminder of his visit by the curatorPresident of SAIC-GM Pavilion, Jin LinQi.

GM and SAIC are the joint global automobile partner of World Expo 2010 Shanghai. The SAIC-GM Pavilion opened on May 1 and will remain open through October 31. With the theme of “Drive to 2030,” it is introducing visitors to GM and SAIC’s vision of the future of urban transportation.

Visitors can watch the movie “2030, Xing!” to see what life may look like in Shanghai 20 years in the future and witness the harmonious relationship between people, their vehicles and the environment.

Following the conclusion of the movie, visitors are shown several unique zero-emission products that could help transform the vision into reality such as GM’s EN-V and SAIC’s YeZ, which change the DNA of the automobile through electricity, connectivity and autonomous driving.

One visitor remarked, “The concept vehicles are appealing. I never thought that vehicles could be driven in such a way.”  As he spoke, a child seated beside him could hardly tear himself away from the model his father had just bought him.

The SAIC-GM Pavilion has also received praise for its friendly atmosphere. The queuing area has been equipped with shades that protect visitors from the sun and a mist-spraying system that keeps down temperatures. In addition, there is a special channel for the elderly and handicapped, which led an 80-year-old visitor to comment, “The service at the pavilion is wonderful.  It allows us to fully enjoy its charm.”
