Twelve shutterbugs were honored yesterday for their outstanding photos that embody Shanghai's spirit in a contest launched by the Shanghai Corporate Pavilion.
A total of 14,412 photos were submitted since the contest was launched in July 2009. The best entries every month won Expo tickets, Lomo underwater photo cameras or photo albums.

Most of January's winners are portraits. Retiree Mao Zhipei contributed his photo called "Dance for Happiness," recalling memories of 25 years ago and showing a folk dance performed by a group of mixed-age workers.
White-collar shutterbug "July" captured a beautiful skyline of Shanghai's Lujiazui financial area, with a girl bathing in the sun on a lawn looking forward to a bright future.
"Shanghai is such a vigorous and fast-growing cosmopolitan city with a splendid future, just like the young girl," she explained.
Li Nan, a jury member, said Shanghai is well known for its unique charm.
"Through different daily touching moments, these life-oriented photographs by ordinary people have defined the city's fascination from a brand-new perspective - a metropolis full of hope and optimism, and also approachable."
