SAIC-GM Pavilion Theme @ World Expo 2010 Shanghai Drive to 2030

Mankind’s desire for mobility has been insatiable from the start – to travel further, to experience more, and to connect with others. Today, people’s lives are being improved like never before under the influence of changes by the automotive industry.

The automobile has changed the way people live, offering greater flexibility while influencing social development. Despite all the changes, the concept of “free mobility” remains a dream. The pursuit of better lives and more freedom continues as carbon dioxide emissions, traffic congestion and accidents are being reduced by new technologies.

Mobility entered a new era when GM presented the “1960 Super Highway” at the 1939 New York World’s Fair. Within 20 years, the world’s first interstate highway was built, changing the way we live forever.

At World Expo 2010 Shanghai, SAIC and GM are jointly presenting another revolutionary mobility and transportation concept that looks ahead to the year 2030. It is a vision of a future city with a new transportation system and new modes of personal mobility unimagined.  It is a vision that future driving is free from petroleum, free from emissions, free from accidents, free from congestion, at the same time, fun and fashionable.

It is a future in which transportation transforms lives around the world, bringing people and cultures closer together; a future in which people, motor vehicles and roads coexist in perfect harmony; and a future in which the motor vehicle no longer has a direct impact on the natural environment.

GM and SAIC will leverage their pavilion to demonstrate their vision for transportation in 2030 and showcase their industry leadership in technology and innovation.

The two automotive industry giants are working together to make this vision a reality through the development of innovative technologies such as electrification, connectivity and autonomous driving.

In the future, cars will be electrically powered with zero emissions.  Electricity to power cars and roads will be generated from renewable energy sources such as hydrogen, wind and solar power.

Vehicles will be able to communicate with each other and with the roads upon which they drive. Autonomous driving will offer a more fun, free and fashionable journey.

GM and SAIC have set a goal of creating a better living environment in urban areas through the reinvention of personal mobility. SAIC and GM will showcase their solutions at their corporate pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai.

At the SAIC-GM Pavilion, visitors will travel 20 years into the future, where they will experience a better life and better city in 2030.  The SAIC-GM Pavilion will show you how future cars look, drive and even think.

Experience the future at the SAIC-GM Pavilion. Drive to 2030.
