Milestones of GM Participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai
November 28, 2006: SAIC and GM signed the Global Automobile Partnership Agreement for
World Expo 2010 Shanghai with the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, officially
becoming the joint global automobile partner of Expo 2010.
March 22, 2007: The Roewe and the Chevrolet Epica were named the official cars of Expo 2010
by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
March 27, 2007: The Handover Ceremony for the First Sponsorship Vehicles for Expo 2010 took
place, marking the formal launch of cooperation between the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo
Coordination and SAIC and GM.
February 1, 2008: The Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination presented SAIC and GM
the First Theme Practice Award at the annual Shanghai Expo Best Sponsor Awards.
April 29, 2008: SAIC and GM handed in their 2010 Shanghai Expo Area Application Form for
non-official participants and confirmed their pavilion's location at the Expo 2010 site.
January 11, 2009: SAIC and GM were named Cooperation Stars by the Bureau of Shanghai
World Expo Coordination.
January 19, 2009: SAIC and GM unveiled the exterior design of their corporate pavilion and
launched a poster activity at the Expo Exhibition Center.
April 17, 2009: SAIC and GM hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for their pavilion at the Puxi
Expo 2010 site. It was the first corporate pavilion to break ground.
August 26, 2009: The SAIC-GM Pavilion's steel structure was completed.
October 28, 2009: GM and SAIC launched their pavilion website – www.our2030.com – and
launched a pair of student competitions.
December 3, 2009: SAIC and GM announced the highlights of the show and the experience at
their joint pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai and revealed the pavilion's movie theme:
"2030, Xing!"
January 13, 2010: The SAIC-GM Pavilion for World Expo 2010 Shanghai received the Most
Excellent Public Building Prize from the Architectural Society of Shanghai. It was the only
corporate pavilion for Expo 2010 to receive the award.
January 18, 2010: As the 100-day countdown for Expo 2010 began, installation of the exterior
curtain wall of the SAIC-GM Pavilion was completed. The exterior look and feel of the joint
pavilion, which symbolizes the road to the future, was officially unveiled to the public.
March 24, 2010: In Shanghai, GM introduced EN-V. The global concept vehicle, which features
the new automobile DNA of electrification and connectivity, showcases GM's vision of future
urban transportation.
April 11, 2010: In Shanghai, GM and SAIC debuted their pavilion experience.
May 1, 2010: The SAIC-GM Pavilion officially opens to the public.
May 26, 2010: GM's "Drive to 2030" Sustainable Urban Mobility Forum series began.
June 12, 2010: During the SAIC-GM Pavilion Special Day, concept vehicles were shown
outside for the first time.
July 26, 2010: SAIC-GM Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai welcomed its 100,000th visitor.
August 17, 2010: GM’s EN-V concept vehicles showcase the future of autonomous driving
outside of the pavilion for the first time.
