SAIC-GM Pavilion at Expo 2010 Officially Opens

Shanghai – In conjunction with today's start of World Expo 2010 Shanghai, General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group (SAIC) officially opened their corporate pavilion to the public.

Executives from GM and SAIC – the joint global automobile partner of World Expo 2010 Shanghai – joined together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the SAIC-GM Pavilion.

The SAIC-GM Pavilion takes Expo 2010 visitors on a journey into the future. With the theme of"Drive to 2030," the pavilion is introducing GM and SAIC's vision for the future of sustainable mobility, with a focus on technological breakthroughs in electrification, connectivity and autonomous driving.

During today's opening ceremony, GM China Group President and Managing Director Kevin Wale said:"At our joint pavilion, GM is proud to be showcasing solutions that will make our vision for tomorrow's urban transportation a reality. GM and SAIC look forward to providing an interesting and thought-provoking experience to visitors from around the world."

The pavilion, which is situated in the Puxi Section of Shanghai's Expo Park, is expected to receive 3 million visitors during the six-month run of World Expo 2010 Shanghai.

The pavilion is divided into three areas, which gradually introduce the exciting future of urban mobility promised in 20 years' time.

In the multimedia corridor of the Pre-Show area, visitors experience the challenges that have accompanied the growth of urban communities over the past 20 years. They also see some of the solutions proposed by GM and SAIC for sustainable urban mobility.

In the Main Show area, visitors are shown a movie entitled"2030, Xing!" The movie shows how humans, motor vehicles and the natural environment will interact harmoniously in 2030. With giant elevated curved screens and moving seats, the theater offers a totally immersive experience. Following the movie, the audience is introduced to the EN-V and YeZ concept vehicles, which have the potential to change the way people live. The 12-minute movie is being shown 31 times each day.

In the Post-Show area, visitors have another opportunity to check out the EN-V and YeZ concept vehicles and purchase souvenirs. The overall pavilion experience is intended to demonstrate more than GM and SAIC's vision. It is also intended to demonstrate that the future is closer than most people think.

The SAIC-GM Pavilion is open throughout World Expo 2010 Shanghai, which will close on October 31, 2010. To reduce queuing time, pavilion organizers have set up an online reservation service on the pavilion's official website, www.our2030.com. Making a reservation can be done by simply providing a name, address and mobile phone number. Those who book in advance can enter the pavilion through a reserved channel.
