Drive to 2030!
Come with Us on the Drive to 2030
Living and working in the city of Shanghai is fun and exciting. Every day, as I drive and walk around my neighborhood and office area, I always find something new and something different. The city is full of energy and passion.
Over the past few years, especially in recent months, I also have seen more signs and heard more buzz about World Expo 2010 Shanghai. I feel proud for Shanghai and proud to be part of the city that is hosting the largest world exhibition in history.
More importantly, I feel proud that GM is the official automobile partner of Expo 2010 along with our joint venture partner Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation Group (SAIC). At Expo 2010, GM and SAIC will leverage this great international platform to demonstrate our vision for transportation in 2030 and showcase our leadership in technology and innovation.

GM is not a stranger to global expositions. Our company has participated in seven over the years, including the 1939 New York World’s Fair, where GM envisioned the concept of interstate highways. To GM, these events have always been a great venue for demonstrating our most exciting advanced technology solutions. Expo 2010 promises not to disappoint.
I’ve always been a huge fan of global expositions – I even had a dog named Expo many years ago. Really, I’m not joking. He was named after Expo ’88, which was held in the city of Brisbane in my native country of Australia. I suspect that there are many others of you who share my passion – and I expect an entirely new generation of exposition fans will be created through the success of Expo 2010.

I am excited that we are launching our Expo 2010 website today. We want it to serve as a landing page for anyone who is curious about GM’s future solutions for personal urban mobility as well as Expo 2010 overall.
I’m proud to personally be participating in GM’s Expo 2010 activities. I plan on sharing my thoughts and experiences with you over the next year. I encourage you to share your thoughts as well – in the form of comments, videos, blogs, photos and webchats. After all, this website is not only about our Expo 2010 experience.
Since GM signed our sponsorship contract with the Shanghai Expo Bureau in 2006, we have achieved many milestones. Now as we get really close to the start of Expo 2010, I want you to buckle your seatbelt and get ready to “Drive to 2030” with us. We welcome you to visit our website often to experience the future of transportation at our pavilion next year.
