Young UK performers are performing a live, bilingual and musical version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" every night through July 30 at the UK Pavilion — with live action spliced with recorded scenes in London.

The impression is of fastpaced and simultaneous juxtaposition in the sitespecific production.
The performance will take place in the shade of Thomas Heatherwick's iconic, awardwinning UK Pavilion, the Seed Cathedral. The magical forest scenes are shot in the UK.
Palm-top projectors, laptops and mobile phones will be incorporated into the production — imagine Oberon or Puck picking up their mobiles. And everyday items found in gardens and green spaces in the UK will be props.
The cast includes members of IdeaTap, the NYT's online interactive partner, and will be supported by an experienced creative and production team.
It is part of the UK's program of Expo public events, designed and developed by the British Council.
While the UK performers are in Shanghai, they will work with Chinese actors and artists from the Shanghai Drama Art Center in an ongoing project to be staged in London in 2012. It will be performed during the Summer Olympic Games in the Cultural Olympiad's World Shakespeare Festival.
The director of this "Living the Dream," Joel Scott, was a founding member of Punchdrunk and Goat and Monkey theater companies. He specializes in site-specific work. His credits include "The Ghost Sonata" (Trinity Buoy Wharf), "Reverence" (Southwark Playhouse), "The Juniper Tree" (touring) and "A Little Neck" (Hampton Court Palace).
