The Shanghai Municipal Government and the International Bureau of Expositions signed a cooperation memorandum on the Expo Museum yesterday in Paris.
Shanghai Executive Vice Mayor Yang Xiong and Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, secretary-general of BIE, signed the document on behalf of both sides.
The museum will be the official museum and archive of BIE, according to the memo and will serve as a knowledge base about the Expo and the world's latest inventions and innovations, as well as a platform for cultural exchange.
BIE will help collect exhibits from its member countries and the organizers of previous Expos and establish a link between the museum and future Expo organizers.
The 20,000-square-meter Expo Museum has received thousands of items from over 160 participants. An exhibition dedicated to Expo 2010 will be held in June next year.
The museum will display the splendor of the recently concluded world fair, the Expo history since 1851 and future Expos.
