Communication Pathway and Connectivity
Hi, I just got back from a trip to Detroit last week. I spoke to a lot of my colleagues at GM's global headquarters and in other countries about the opportunity to participate in Expo 2010 next year in Shanghai. I invited them to visit our SAIC-GM Pavilion at the Expo Park in order to learn about our vision for 2030 and the exciting potential of our new technologies. I told them they can also spend time visiting many historical places in China. Many of my colleagues were very excited.
I kept reminding them of the potential of electrification, connectivity, and autonomous driving – the technologies that GM will demonstrate at Expo 2010, and how these technologies can be combined to enhance our environment, our safety and the way we manage future traffic flows.
The area I get most excited about is connectivity. You may have read that at the 1939 New York World's Fair, GM demonstrated the future of the interstate highway system. That vision, which became a reality 20 years later, connected the U.S. (and other countries) in a tangible way through bitumen and concrete pathways.

Today we have the opportunity to create new pathways - communication pathways - that have the potential to connect us and our communities in even more exciting ways.
The communication pathways - both wired and wireless - have revolutionized our voice communication, created instant linkages between us, and transformed the way that we and our children lead our lives.
The communication pathways offer great new opportunities for us to link them to future vehicles and future infrastructure to create even more flexibility, fun and safety in the way we commute.

In fact, we have started down that path already. Our new OnStar technology that was launched just last week in China is a great example. It provides infrastructure information and navigation advice; it provides remote diagnosis of your vehicle and can even demobilize your car in the event that it is stolen. OnStar is a great milestone in our connectivity technology. What we will demonstrate next year at Expo 2010 will be even more exciting.

Do you have any great ideas about how we can use these new connectivity highways? I look forward to hearing your thoughts…

Oh~~ wonderful ideas!!! looking forward to GM Expo Pavilion~~~
