The Battle of Grunwald became one of the most famous European battles and an important turning point in Lithuania's history. The battle on July 15, 1410 shifted the balance of power in Eastern Europe and marked the rise of the Polish-Lithuanian union as the dominant political and military force in the region.
Today, the fight of 15th-century medieval knights is being replicated at the Lithuania Pavilion. Knights armed with swords, spears and shields show the martials art and battle tactics used in those days.
The show takes place daily from 2pm to 6pm at the pavilion, until July 20.
Visitor will also be able to see the 15th-century arms of knights who fought in this battle and even try their heavy armor on.
Role-plays of the Battle of Grunwald started in 1998.
The design of the Lithuania Pavilion came from flowers in bud, symbolizing a vigorous, prosperous and booming country and its cities. The exhibition centers on the success stories of urban development, architectural and cultural heritage, natural protection, people's achievements, sports and scientific development, among others.
It aims to showcase how Lithuanians get along well together and take an eco-friendly approach towards nature in the process of developing the country into an important international political, cultural and economic center in the Baltic Sea region.
Lithuania pavilion is in Zone C of the Expo site.
